Health Services Information Specialist

CoreCivic is currently seeking a Health Services Information Specialist who have a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional setting. The Health Services Information Specialist is responsible for health data and reporting accuracy using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and the Health Information Systems (HIS) reporting. Ensures health record compliance by reviewing data contained in patient health records, conducting and reviewing system data and reports, participating in audits, and by providing departmental training and troubleshooting of EMR and HIS technology.
The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.

- Oversees data activities for accuracy and completeness between multiple facility systems including the EMR, HIS, OMSe, and the medical case management system for both inpatient and outpatient services. Performs regular data quality checks and reviews automated data mining results. Ensures accurate transfer of data between systems, troubleshoots issues and refers more complex issues to the technology department. - Conducts root cause analysis using audit and report findings; actively participates in the development of corrective action plans in coordination with facility and department leadership and health service staff. Reviews patient health records for completion across all areas of health services to include clinical, dental and mental health. - Ensures accurate and complete transfer of data from OMEs as needed. Identifies missing records or incomplete data and refers to department head for clinical corrections and completion. Verifies and scrubs data to ensure accurate and reliable reporting. Reviews electronic data mining for errors and conducts basic manual corrections. Monitors for record completion to ensure proper tracking of offsite and outside referrals, to include emergency transfers. Verifies proper data tracking throughout the EMS and HIS systems to include contract specific systems as required by contract. Provides technical training and education to health services staff to improve the overall quality, accuracy and reliability of EMR and HIS systems. Coordinates activities of the telehealth system and provides technical support. Participates in testing for system upgrades and provides feedback for improved system performance.
